RES701 Cource Feedback

I really enjoyed this class, even if this semester was messy. The concepts of Epistemology and Ontology(Has to google spelling everytime), were new concepts to me and therefore were very interesting. The idea that the scientific method is not the defacto correct way of looking at thing is one that challange what I have be thaugh since I was was a small child. I also enjoyed learning about how different cultures view reality and how these thing combine to form research methodolgies.

One of my biggest problems with Research is how to avoid bias. Like I understand that bias can’t be avoided but what is the line, is someone being passionate about a topic enought for them to be bias toward it or do you need someother insentive such as money.

I missed a lot of the later leasons about ethics and copy right which is a shame because those are proberly the topics I have the most to say about. I would have like to have them sooner as we had discussions about them in the classes were we were coming up wit hout research topics before the classes where we discused them.

I will not stop try to use big words you cannot make me!!!!

Vishvats Blog https://systemdevelopmentmethodologiesvishvat.wordpress.com/

The blog was easy to follow the use of introduction allow me to understand what was going on. The blogs being breif made them easy to digest. The use of a small amount of flair in the text make them easier to pay attemtion too. But there wasn’t to much flair that I couldn’t understand what was going on. The referencies allowed me to also find where Vishvat got his information from.

Lisha https://lishalouissystemdevelopmentmethodologiessyd701.wordpress.com/

I like the rich picture that was done for assessment three it was completely different from what I have done for my the use of boxing and text made it easier to follow that mine. The way the blog was bulleted was like an instrution manual. This made the infomration easy to take in. I like the briefness of how a mess was explained very curt.

I might be miss using wordpress but a lot of the links on the Git blog seem to lead to almost empty blogs so I struggled to write much more about this sorry.

Callum’s Chats https://callumschat.wordpress.com/.

One of the most detailed blogs I’ve ever seen. This place looks more like a learning resources than a normal blog. Callum’s blog was one of the places I when when I wasn’t sure on what I was meant to be doing. Because there is so much information here I can easierly summerise it or find point which I can google and do my own research.

Asriel’s Blog https://docs.google.com/document/d/1U5kIROiTvPib5gldAskDspVyV9RdBRQZ3sxgSpKRITE/edit

I enjoyed how short this one was. It is straight to the point and easy to follow. Not having to deal with word presses weird exintirities made it easy for me to follow.

Jason’s Blog https://jmoverthinking.wordpress.com/

An extremely professional looking blog if I was to stumble appon this blog while doing research I would imitdately expect it to be of profesional level. The main reason I think this is because of how it is layed out. The text is just spread out enought for which I can keep track of what is going on but not to spread out that it looks like a barren waste land. Also there is a lot of person prespective in this blog.

RES701 Journal Ethics and Copy Right

Copyright and creative commons.

Most people want to feel mastery over anything they are good at. This is why they get upset if they are not agnolaged and or compistated for their work. Because for this the use of other peoples work needs to have limitation put on it.

Using someone work or building on it can make the person feel like they have been cheated this is why we have copyright law. It allows people to feel like they have be reconised for their work and rewarded for putting in effort. I think this is a fair thing as with out this there would be no insentive to work on anything.

On the other hand I believe it is unfair for one person to own an idea. All work comes form somewhere nomatter how origional it seems, this means it would be hypercitital in my opinion to them prevent other people from building on previous ideas.

In research this is important because unlike onther mediums information normally can not directly be owned. Research, esically that which uses the scientific method normally need to build appon previous research. Becasuse of this it becomes an ethical issue for if we reference others work.

Referencing other work is important to incorrage others to share their ideas in a way which they can be built appon and not corse the hording of information like research dragon.

Ethics

Ethics cover what we do outside of law, inplace of law and inspite of law. The fundermental idea behind it is not can I do something but is it ‘right’ to do it. This normally include things like copy right, how experments are carried out and what information is shared.

Senario One

Unethical. The posting of an images to a blog without editing it prevents the origional cretor form gaining from the images as you are using the image for it’s base purpose without compinsation.

Senerio Two

Unethical. I don’t thing testing a potentially harmful drug on people on it’s own is a bad thing. I also thing the assumtion for a lot of the people who enroll in these kind of studies are that they will be a risk. My problem is more that most of the people who enroll in this study are likely desperate. This could lead them to making some unwise deasions. Additionally I don’t thing there is enought time for properly corective treatment for the plasebo group.

Senerio Three

I don’t know. Depends on the sort of drug. But generally this is a bad pratics as it discorages ALL form of journalisic sorces as people are worred that you will give them up. So I proberly would say unethical.

Senerio Four

Firstly you don’t seem to have properly debrief the child you kicked out of your experiment. That is one of the most basic parts of ethical studies of humans. Secondly can you ever properly debrief a child. Thirdly if this is mean to have an impact on someone who are you going to undo it?

Senerio Five

This could be etical but there are proper protocals for this sort of thing to make sure no damge is done.

Ethical. You are in a public place no one is exected to have full privacy, espically if they are doing something wrong.

SYD701 Developer Rich-Picture

For this project I have chosen a Deveops approach. The rich picture above resembers the devops methodogly, therefore it makes sence to use the model which best fits the project.

Deveops will allow for us too asign individual features to team member which can be then completed and tested before they need testing with the rest of the website.

We are using the testers, users and publishers as form of moritering the sites progress.

One of the main methods we are using is a feature driven approch. This means that as long as features keep getting finished we can keep updating the site. If a single feature fails it wont corse as much damage to the project as it otherwise could have.

RES701 Journal 7 28/5/20

Feedback on Jonathan Macgregor’s Research Proposial.

Short Description.

Very broad topic area that can likely be specialised later. The Choosen area of interest seems to be one with may possibities that could be explored.

Things You Know.

The questions here seem to be from a point of veiw. This is a bad thing as it creates persective basied of what the you considures to be ‘fact’. As they are presective based I give the you the ability to further exspand on these points. Some additional information could be useful for use in justification of your project. For example ‘It can be challenging but rewarding’ could be use as a comparision between average grose earnings and time require for a project.

Things You Believe.

These all seem like resonable things to believe. Some of these could be used as possible questions. For example, I believe that it is doable, but it will take a lot of time and effort could be used as a question of ‘What is time need to make a certain sized project.

Things you don’t know

These are simlar to the things I have surgested in the previous areas. You could possible look into these to create your research question.

Possible Questions.

A lot of these seem to relate to what would make a video game ‘fun’. This could be a possible focus. I would surgest rewording them to be about sucessful. This is because sucess may be a easier meteric to messure rater than fun, which is subjective. It realy depends on what sort of apporch you want to take. If you wanted the research to be more people based, fun could be messured by having people play the game. Where if you wanted to be more staticic based success would be easier to messure.

Selected Questions

I like the selection of questions. I might surgest extending ‘What makes a good video game’ to be more spicific.

Chosen question.

I think this is a good start but might need to be a little more focused. What about selecting game engines are you interested in? You could connect it to previous question. What is the best devlopment engine for beginners? How does the enginee effectt the success of the game?

Title.

I think you need a more indepth title.

Ethical issues and IP.

I like what you have here. I would surgest looking into copy right issues. You game will need assests such as graphics sounds and music. You might want to think about how you are going to acquire these.

You might want to dicusse the terms of the delopment plateform such as revenue limits and licencing.

SYD701 Journal 6 22/5/20

My project for assessment 3 is an online virtual tabletop.

I have used several similar applications before but they all come with issues an have differing levels of user friendlyness and features.

My proposial is to create an online tabletop simulator which can be easierly access by client for verious purposes as such as playing board games and online roleplaying.

The main draw of this project is to present the user with easier to use intergrated feature which allow the users to modify and share content for the site.

For this application I would like to use a feature driven approce. The may purpose of this application to supplie the use with features. A user to could go other places to find simlar funtionallity but our key difference is that the features on our site are intergrated together and are easy to use.

Each ‘feature’ of our site is in essence it’s own mini project. The Feature driven methodolgy is representive of how the system architeture is design to work. It also allows us to contuine with the project is one feature lags behind or doesn’t workout, reducing the cost of failure.

Feature driven development also allows as to test the features often allowing for us to make them ‘feel’ good to use. Which is an important part of the sites design.

A web application such as this will need incremental updates to allow for additional feature to be added to keep interest in the project. I thing this could be done by additionally using a methodolgy simlar to the spiral. In which the application to launched with currently tested and working features, after which development can contuine with a focus on new features.

The IT area/subject I have most enjoyed is project management. When I started I.T. i though system analysies and design was the thing I wanted to be as far away from as possible. Onces I started taking SYD I found that I enjoyed creating diagrams.

The IT area/subject I least enjoyed is networking. I found that I had no ablitiy to problems solve for networking. All of the techniques that I normally use to problem solved didn’t work and I found I wasn’t making any progress.

The IT area/subject I was most interested in is web development. Web development is a confusing topic for me. It seems to be where a lot of the I.T. industry is heading so I would like to get better at it.

The one IT thing I never want to have to do again is networking. Please see above for reason.

I chose to study IT because I didn’t want to do anything else. I couldn’t think of anything else I wanted to do and I had decided this was defentantly what I wanted to do at the beginning of highschool.

If I couldn’t study IT I would study I don’t know bussness? I found I probably would like some level of bussness management job. I like those parts of the coarse so far. I may get sick of this quickly though.

When I was a kid I wanted to be a game developer. I though the idea of making a video game was cool. I did not understand the process which was involved in creating a game at the time. As I looked into it I decidied that I wasn’t really interested in it and moved towards more of a generic program idea.

One IT thing I would like to know more about is development of future I.T. solutions such as quatine computers and Block chain technolgies. I find future techolges fun to learn about and would like to understand these technolgies which seem almost magical to me more.
